Summer 2021 Strength & Conditioning Program All team sport athletes, going into grades 9-12, are expected to participate in DCA’s summer strength & conditioning program. Our athlete’s dedication to attending as many workouts as possible is essential to the development of our athletic program. The intent of the summer strength-training period is to build team chemistry, reduce the onset of injury, increase work capacity, develop explosive strength and power, and increase mental resiliency. All student-athletes will be under the supervision of one of the DCA strength coaches during their workout. Each team will be assigned a specific number of workouts that they must attend in order to be eligible for varsity participation. Failure to meet those specific numbers will result in the student-athlete being able to participate only at the junior varsity level for half the season. Football, Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Wrestling, Girls & Boys Basketball will train 4 days a week. Softball, Baseball, Cheer, and Boys Soccer will train 3 days a week. Athletes are expected to attend the workout for his or her most immediate sport. Athletes will not be permitted to attend a different workout session because they missed the session they were scheduled to be in. Workouts are created to be energy system specific, and our space and staff are limited. In an effort to keep the chaos in the weight room to a minimum, we ask that you attend your specific time. Any questions, concerns, or conflicts can be worked out through the Head Strength Coach, Isaiah Newson at inewson@dcawildcats.org.
