Head of School's Welcome

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Donelson Christian Academy. I am personally thrilled to be part of the Academy for this exciting time in its history.

For fifty years, Donelson Christian Academy has helped develop students into Christ-like leaders committed to serve in their homes, churches, and communities.  This mission remains as relevant today as ever and is lived out amongst our alumni who are serving in all walks of life. DCA’s students, families, and alumni often describe the school as a community or family.  It is in this context that challenging a student to use their gifts to the fullest can produce outstanding growth. An incredibly caring group of faculty and staff who know each student individually due to the smaller environment at DCA helps create a school experience where each individual is both challenged and supported in the best possible way. We observe this growth spiritually, in our classrooms, in the fine arts, in athletics, and throughout each student’s experience. Our graduates then take these gifts into college and beyond to help serve the Lord, their families, and others in many different occupations and capacities.  The phrase “Challenge in Community” is at the heart of the DCA experience.
The integration of faith and learning is at the core of the instructional process at the Academy.  Each aspect of a student’s experience is impacted and informed by the truth found in Scripture.  The phrase “Teach in Truth” describes the foundation or the basis for instruction on the DCA campus.  We are committed to the principle that “All Truth is God’s Truth” and work diligently to help students grow to understand this in its deepest sense.  Student questions and discussions are welcomed and encouraged as teachers help each student explore and develop a biblical worldview in order to equip them to navigate their college experience and the challenges of life in the 21st century.
The phrase “Lead for the Kingdom” represents DCA’s stated desire in its mission that students will grow to live as Christ-like leaders.  A recent alumni survey indicated that DCA graduates are living in such a manner.  When compared to a national survey, our graduates demonstrate in a statistically significant manner greater involvement in community service and community organizations, attend church more frequently, are more active in their churches, and tend to give of their resources at higher levels than the general population.  These are a few of the indicators that the DCA mission is being lived out in the lives of our graduates.
It is an exciting time as the Academy is in the midst of a significant building Campaign titled “The Time Is Now”.  This campaign will help fund a new two-story preschool through elementary wing on campus, as well as an incredible new auditorium space that will serve our entire community.  It has been amazing to see the outpouring of support in so many ways as DCA diligently seeks God’s next steps following the March 2020 tornado.  That devastating event caused major challenges, but the community has once again demonstrated its resilience and ability to move forward into those challenges and turn them into amazing opportunities for growth. It has been remarkable to witness how God has blessed this campaign with the necessary financial support from donors.
It is a great time to consider becoming a Wildcat!  Please join us on campus to observe the many incredible opportunities this community offers.  The future of the Academy is bright as God guides us into the next fifty years of pursuing His mission of developing Christ-like leaders.
