DCA Arts Academy
The DCA Arts Academy is an extended program of DCA’s fine arts education which offers high quality instruction for persons of nearly every age to prepare them for success in creative endeavors. Our purpose is to enhance our school’s fine arts program and provide opportunities for the surrounding community to become more involved in the arts. We believe talents are a gift from God that we are responsible for developing and displaying to bring Him glory in an excellent way.
“I will show you the most excellent way.”
1 Corinthians 12:31
We operate on a year-round, 41 week, 3-term schedule that closely matches the school calendar, observing most of its holidays & closings, with a brief break between terms.
SUMMER = June 1 – July 31, 2016
FALL = August 15 - December 16, 2016
Classes will NOT be held 9/5,
10/3 - 10/7, & 11/23 - 11/25.
SPRING = January 9 - May 12, 2017
Even though school will be closed on 1/16 & 2/20, the Arts Academy WILL hold classes on these days.
Classes will NOT be held during Winterim & Spring Break 3/13 - 3/24.
Regular attendance is essential to artistic development. Instructors reserve a specific time for each student and, therefore, 100% attendance is expected. This encourages consistency in practice and promotes steady progress.
Students should arrive just before their session, but we recommend prompt pick-up so they are not left unattended afterward.
Students should cancel sessions, however, if they have been deemed contagiously ill and/or have run a fever during the 24 hours prior.
Students/parents/guardians who cancel lessons will be eligible for up to two (2) make-ups per term if the instructor is notified directly at least 24 hours before the absence(s). In the case of an unexpected illness, however, the student will be eligible for a make-up, up to two (2) per term, if the instructor is notified directly by 8am on the morning of the absence. (Otherwise, full price will be charged.)
Lessons cancelled by an instructor will be rescheduled or, as a last resort, a credit will be issued; these are rare and will NOT count towards the two (2) make-up limit per term.
No refunds will be given for lessons missed beyond the two (2) make-up limit per term.
No make-ups or refunds will be given to students who miss group classes for any reason.
In the event of inclement weather, we will follow DCA’s decision relating to delays, openings and/or closings. These lessons will be rescheduled or, as a last resort, a credit will be issued; these will not count towards the two (2) make-up limit per term.
The Academy office is not responsible for scheduling make-ups; please contact your individual instructor.

All students, both new and returning, need to complete a registration form and return it, along with the annual, non-refundable registration fee of $35 (per student), to the main office at DCA. The form & fee must both be received to be placed with an instructor and secure a time slot.
By signing the form, you are agreeing to either a one or two term commitment (fall and/or spring); this is similar to that of other area arts organizations.
For the summer term, we require a 4-lesson or 9-lesson commitment to provide the necessary consistency of both the student and the instructor.
Registration is due before the start of the fall term each year or before the first lesson/class if enrolling after the school year has already begun. (No registration fee is due for the summer term.)
Payments for private lessons are due in full at the beginning of each term or in equal monthly installments due at the first lesson of each month; a $15 late fee may be charged if payments are received after the 15th of each month.
If paying monthly, please be aware that payments are based on an average and will remain the same though the number of sessions may vary from month to month.
Payments for group classes are due in full at the beginning of each term or in two equal installments, one prior to the first class and the other by Oct. 14th (for the fall term) or Mar. 14th (for the spring term); a $15 late fee may be charged if payments are received after the due date.
Payments for summer camps are due either in full or in part (half) two weeks prior to the first day of each camp, at which time the remaining balance is due.
Lessons/classes may be put on hold and time slots forfeited if payments are not made on time.
Payments can be mailed directly to DCA, turned in to the main office or placed in a secure drop box in the school library. Please make checks or money orders payable to Donelson Christian Academy. No cash please. (There will be a $40 charge for any returned checks.)
