Donelson Christian Academy desires to keep Christian education affordable. The balance between the cost of quality education and the financial ability of parents is the most challenging aspect of Christian education today. Many families are feeling increased economic pressures. DCA has a financial aid program to assist families seeking an excellent Christian education for their kindergarten through 12th grade students. The following questions are frequently asked and provide a summary of our program.
How is financial aid awarded?
Financial aid is awarded based on the need of the family. It is determined by School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), an independent agency that calculates the amount a family can afford for private education based on information provided by the parent. After receiving this computation, DCA uses internal guidelines to award financial aid to the student. The amount awarded is generally between ten and thirty-two percent of the family's calculated need and subject to remaining available resources.
When do I apply for financial aid?
Financial aid application can be accessed by clicking HERE. It is best for all information to be submitted as soon as possible. We recommend all applications to be submitted by March 1 to be fully considered. The sooner the application is received the more likely funds will be available.
What type of financial information is needed to apply for financial aid?
An applicant must provide information from their family’s tax return, a listing of assets, and a description of any unusual circumstances. Aid is for only one academic year at a time and must be applied for and evaluated each year.
To whom do I submit the application?
The financial information is submitted directly to the SSS. Other supporting information is submitted to the Director of Finance, in the administrative offices. All information is strictly confidential and will be handled in a professional manner.
When will I know the amount of financial aid offered?
DCA will notify applicants of their available financial aid within one month of receiving all required forms and evaluation results from SSS.
